If you have been studying the home based business industry then you would know by now that email marketing lists are your true asset in this industry because MLM and network marketing companies might come and go BUT your list will always be yours, your list is your asset.
Well before you go wasting all of your money on paid advertising and putting all of your effort into marketing to build a HUGE list!
I want to ask this question:
Does Size Matter When It Comes To Email Marketing Lists?
Well bigger the list the more people you have to market to right??? So a bigger list MUST be a more profitable list right!? WRONG!!!
Lets have a look at this and answer this question once and for all….
Lets say John had a marketing budget of $1000 a month for PPC and on top of that John also spent a lot of his time sending email blasts to the list builders that he had joined and generated a ton of leads all the while just stock piling his leads and relying on his auto-responder to build a relationship with his list, his emailing marketing list just kept growing bigger and bigger.
John would be rubbing his hands together thinking that he will be able to eventually sponsor these people on his list into his primary network marketing company and on top of that be able to just send any old affiliate product to his list and make a ton of money, easy money!
BUT even with Jason’s HUGE list of leads he would only maybe sign a couple of people into his primary network marketing company and rarely if at all make a sale with any of the affiliate products that he was sending his list.
NOW
Let’s take Susan who was putting a lot of time and effort into her marketing, writing great articles, posting great content in forums, creating great blog posts, videos etc and she didn’t have a marketing budget of a $1000 per month for PPC but she was slowly building her email marketing lists with great content branding her as a leader, Susan would also write her own email auto-responders with a personal touch, she would even phone her leads and see if she could help in any way…
Even with Susan’s small but highly targeted list she would be sponsoring a lot more people into her primary network marketing company and making a lot my affiliate sales from her email marketing lists than John would be from his HUGE list…
“So In This Case Size Doesn’t Matter” (Unlike In The Bedroom) LOL

But lets spin this around and say that John was building a HUGE list by using Susan’s tactics… Adding value and building a REAL relationship with his list! Then John would be building a very big asset!!!
Size Doesn’t Just Matter In The Bedroom, It Also Matters When It Comes To Building Email Marketing Lists!

The key is not how fast you build your list, it is how you create a relationship with your list that is going to make all the difference!

Oooh! rude pics … but a funny and relevant post Billee.
Some people stress that their list isn’t huge like the guru’s but if you build relationships with the right people then size doesn’t matter.

Hi Tracey,
Thanks for the comment… The relationship building with your list is just as, or even more important than just building a huge list.

Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.

@Wischmeier thanks for the kind words! I can’t believe I’m not more popular to! haha joking! But seriously people do over look the relationship building side when they are building their lists which is only going to create a huge list of people who don’t really want to know you, let alone buy from you.
Thanks for the comment!

Interesting way of looking at things Billee, and you are right…. It is so much easier to provide excellent one-to-one help to a small list and that is what most of us need when we are starting out at least.
I agree with Tracey too – they are rude pics…LOL

Hi Deb,
Thanks for the comment! So true… Everyone needs a mentor when starting out, someone to give them the right information because this industry is over filled with information overload…
No wonder the failure rate is so high, only the determine will survive! And I thought I would put a little spin to the idea…. haha
